The Detroit Tigers got a sterling performance from pitcher Matt Telecky, but the Minnesota Twins still prevailed, 5-3. Telecky threw 6.0 innings of 5-hit ball. Minnesota pitcher Hector Vásquez got the win. He's now 1-4. Sean Thomas was tagged with the loss. Minnesota, with the win, sits at 54-101.
Had Jared Kennedy not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and runners on 1st and 2nd, Kennedy hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 4-3, in favor of the Twins.
"We had some nice at-bats at the right time," said Twins manager Connor Sandstrom.
