Mets Come Up Short at St. Louis, 7-6
St. Louis designated hitter Asher Gautreau picked up 4 ribbies while helping his team beat back the New York Mets, 7-6. Jason Chamberlain picked up the save for St. Louis, his 22nd of the year. The win puts St. Louis at 84-68 this season.

Gautreau had a game-changing home run in the bottom of the seventh. On a first pitch fastball from Christian Duran, he banged a 3-run home run to right-center, giving the Cardinals a 7-6 lead. It was the 29th home run of the year for Gautreau.

"Asher leaves the last at-bat behind him, whether it was good or bad, and goes up there and competes on every pitch," said St. Louis manager Zachary Norat.
