Riding the 2-hit performance of the 25-year old catcher Lee Lingle, the New York Yankees stopped the London Royals, 5-2. New York now has a record of 80-72 with the win.

With New York leading 3-0 in the top of the third, Lingle hit a 2-run single off London hurler Kevin Kuntz. It was the 31st hit of the season for Lingle and put his team ahead, 5-0.

"You work hard, day in and day out, hoping to give the fans something to cheer about. Today was a good day," Lingle told the New York Observer.
