Black Bears Prevail, 3-1, Over Colorado
|
The Virginia Black Bears got a magnificent performance from pitcher Kieran Velez, who muffled the Colorado offense en route to a tight, 3-1 Black Bears win at Coors Field. Lindon Higgins got the save, his 2nd in 3 chances. The triumph puts Virginia at 77-74 for the season.
Virginia used a clutch at-bat from Colton Garner to capture the win. The third baseman hammered a 2-run home run in the top of the fifth inning to put the Black Bears ahead, 2-0. It was his lone hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a humdinger.
"What's not to like about a win?" said Garner.
