Despite a great performance by Memphis shortstop Jimmy Snyder, the Virginia Black Bears defeated the Blues by the score of 7-6 at Blues Stadium. Snyder went 2-4 with 2 singles, while scoring 2. Calvin Kuhns picked up the save, his 37th. The win makes Virginia 77-73.

Who knows how it might've ended, had it not been for Philip Shannon? The Virginia second baseman had a run-scoring single in the top of the eighth inning to put the Black Bears on top, 7-6. For the game, Shannon had 1 double and 1 single in 4 at-bats.

"We'll kick back tonight, then get set for the next one," Shannon said.
