Cincinnati got a terrific game from left fielder Conrado Greeley. It wasn't enough, though, to prevent the team from falling to San Francisco, 11-8. Greeley was 3-4 with a home run and 2 singles, while scoring 2 times and driving in 3. The winning pitcher was Tom Spears. He tossed 74 pitches over 5.2 innings, allowing 5 runs on 8 hits. Maxwell Baxter sewed up the save, his 35th.

San Francisco used a well-timed hit by Conrad Myers Jr. to capture the win. The shortstop socked a 2-run double in the top of the sixth inning to put the Giants ahead, 6-4. Though it was his only hit in 5 at-bats, it was important.

"If we play like this, we can win a lot of games," Myers Jr. told the San Francisco Bulletin.

The Giants have a one-game lead in the National League Torres Division.
