Indians Absorb 8-5 Home Loss
The Portland Hops besoiled an otherwise fine performance by Cleveland right fielder Charlie Shulman by beating the Indians, 8-5, at Tecumseh Field. Shulman went 3 for 5 with a home run and 2 singles. He scored 2 runs. Alex Price got the win, improving to 5-2. He pitched 6 innings, giving up 10 hits and 5 runs, while striking out 3 and walking 2. The Hops sport a record of 94-55.

Ford Hampton, who led the AL in hits with 213 last year, helped out the Portland cause in the top of the sixth inning with a run-scoring sacrifice fly. For the game, the third baseman drove in one run.

Hampton said he was "thrilled" the fans had something to get excited about.
