The Toronto Blue Jays topped the Pittsburgh Pirates, 8-4, at Rogers Centre. Toronto center fielder Axel Rosales was a spark plug for the offense. He was 3 for 4 with a triple, 2 singles, and a walk, while scoring 2. Picking up the save was 22-year old right-handed pitcher Billy Phan. The second-place Blue Jays are now 87-61, the Pirates 55-93.

Making an impact for Toronto was right fielder Jimmy Ray. Hack drilled a 2-run home run off Evan Kiester in the bottom of the third. For the game, Ray was 1 for 4 with a home run. He drove in 2 runs and scored once.

"I still think this team can play even better," Rosales told the Toronto News.
