Cubs Improve to 77-70 with 6-3 Win
|
Despite a great performance by St. Louis first baseman Lucas Cavanaugh, the Chicago Cubs defeated the Cardinals by the score of 6-3 at Wrigley Field. Cavanaugh hit 2 home runs, while adding 3 RBI and scoring twice. Joe Borck, the winner, improved to 14-9. He held the Cardinals to 3 runs on 5 hits over 8 innings, while striking out 4 and walking 1. Johnny Armour was credited with the save, his 7th in 8 tries.
Evan Dankowski hit a 2-run double off Ethan Minks in the bottom of the third, which put the Cubs in front, 4-2. In addition to the double, Dankowski had 1 single, while going 2 for 4.
"One win at a time, one game at a time. We try not to get too far ahead of ourselves," Dankowski told the Chicago Bulletin.
The win lifted the Chicago record to 77-70.
