The New York Mets overcame a pretty good performance by Baltimore first baseman Roberto Beltre, beating the Orioles, 7-6, at Citi Field. Beltre went 4 for 5 with a home run and 3 singles, while scoring 2 and driving in 2. Purvis Chigozie recorded the save, his 2nd. New York is last in the American League Sandoval Division with a record of 61-86.
Teddie Lucas, who is on pace for 125 RBI this season, helped out the New York cause in the bottom of the seventh inning with a run-scoring single. For the game, the second baseman was 2 for 4 with 2 singles, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once.
Lucas told reporters after the game: "This one was touch and go, but we were able to put it in the win column."
