Behind a fine performance from Bob Reader, the New York Mets knocked off the Baltimore Orioles, 11-2. Reader was 2 for 3 with a home run and 2 walks. He scored 2 times and drove in 3 for the Mets. The Mets bumped their record to 79-68 with this latest triumph.

With two out in the top of the second, Elton Briggs put New York in front, 2-0, with a 2-run single. The Mets went on to win the ballgame.
