The Cleveland Indians downed the Vancouver Cascades, 9-5, at Royal Port Stadium. The Indians were led by David Carthens. Carthens slugged 2 home runs. He scored 3 runs and drove in 2. Cleveland used a clutch at-bat from Feliz Batista to capture the win. The designated hitter hammered a 3-run home run in the top of the fifth inning to put the Indians ahead, 6-3. It was his lone hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a humdinger.

"The credit goes to our offense," said Cleveland manager Johnny Cal.

The third-place Cascades now sit at 76-70.
