Barons Top Mud Hens, 6-4
|
The Birmingham Barons topped the Toledo Mud Hens, 6-4, in International League action at Fifth Third Field. The standout performance belonged to Birmingham pitcher and Rohnert Park, California, native Roy Jetté. Jetté, now 4-5, was the winner. In 6 innings, he gave up 2 hits, while striking out 6, walking 1, and allowing no runs. The 6th-place Mud Hens now sit at 54-57.
Neifi Feliz had a big 2-run triple for the Barons in the top of the first inning. With Birmingham leading 1-0 and runners on 1st and 2nd, he got a sinker from R.L. Unsworth, who is tied for 4th in the IL in quality starts with 13, and swatted a triple to left-center. It was his 1st triple of the season, and more importantly, it put the Barons ahead, 3-0.
"That's what this team is about," said Feliz, "picking each other up."
