Syracuse 65-43 After Beating Dundies
|
The Syracuse Chiefs knocked off the Scranton Dundies, 6-2, at Victory Field. Max Smallwood was a big reason Syracuse won. The first baseman was 3-4 with a double and 2 singles. Billy Ott earned the win after being brought in from the bullpen. The right-hander allowed no runs on 1 hit in 3.2 innings. His record is now 4-3. The win hiked the Syracuse record to 65-43.
The Chiefs got a big boost from third baseman Derek Torres who had a run-scoring ground out in the bottom of the first inning off Dundies hurler Jonathan Lunsford. It was his 43rd RBI of the season and put Syracuse on top, 2-1.
"I think it speaks for itself, I think we came out and we played our kind of baseball," said Smallwood.
