Velasquez Helps Bears Defeat Barons, 7-2
Coca-Cola Park was the site for International League action featuring the Wilkes-Barre Barons and Newark Bears.

The Newark Bears defeated the Wilkes-Barre Barons, 7-2, at Coca-Cola Park. Newark was led by 25-year old right fielder Torquato Velasquez, who was 2-5 with 2 home runs. He drove in 5 runs and scored twice. The Bears raised their record to 51-54.

Early in the game, Velasquez had a 3-run home run for Newark. It was his 4th home run of the season and put the Bears on top, 4-1.

"We'll pop the top on a cold beverage and get back to work tomorrow," Velasquez said.
