Clutch Hitting Delivers Win for Mets
The New York Mets beat the Montreal Expos, 9-7, at Olympic Stadium. The Mets got a fine performance from designated hitter Emmanuel González, who went 3 for 4 with 3 singles and a walk. The winner in relief was Herb Tucker. He is now 3-2. The right-hander allowed 4 runs on 5 hits in 2.2 innings. New York now has a record of 78-68 with the win.

New York used a timely hit from Gonzalo Morzaroti to get the win. The catcher stroked a 2-run double in the top of the eighth inning to put the Mets ahead, 5-3. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it made an impact.

"We've got guys willing to do what it takes to win," Morzaroti told the New York Observer.
