Expos Stumble, Lose to White Sox
|
Fans were not deterred by the threat of rain. They came to see their hometown Montreal Expos take on the Chicago White Sox.
The Chicago White Sox powered past the Montreal Expos, 8-3, at Olympic Stadium. Ronald Williams provided some of the pop. He went 2-4 with a home run and a walk. He scored 2 runs. Chicago has run its win streak to 4 consecutive.
Chicago shortstop Jason Gustafson contributed a timely at-bat in the top of the third. With two down, he hit a fastball to center field for a 2-run single. It was his 74th hit of the season and put the White Sox ahead, 4-1.
"It was a team effort and I thought the guys had a good plan and approach," said Gustafson after the game.
