Whitley Slugs Blue Jays to 6-3 Win
|
The Toronto Blue Jays defeated the Boston Red Sox, 6-3, in Eastern Region action at Fenway Park. Kymani Whitley pulled his weight. The 8-year veteran hit 2 home runs. He drove in 4 runs and scored twice. Felipe Rojas picked up the win, improving his season record to 13-5. He struck out 5 in 6.1 innings. The first-place Blue Jays have their sights set on making a deep playoff run.
Jayden Bice, the 25-year old second baseman , had a direct impact on the outcome. Bice contributed a 2-run single in the top of the fifth inning to put Toronto up, 5-2.
"We'll savor this win," Whitley told the Toronto Chronicle, "then get ready for the next game."
