Marlins Score Late, Topple Braves, 4-2
|
Both teams had their opportunities, but in the end, the Miami Marlins got the win.
The Miami Marlins wanted a good start from Billy Ott -- and he delivered one. The result was a 4-2 Miami win over the Atlanta Braves at Truist Park. Miami reliever Doug Freligh picked up the win, upping his record to 3-1. Jaxon Wilson took the loss.
Miami won the game in part because of Apolo Contreras. The right fielder ripped a 2-run home run in the top of the ninth inning to put the Marlins ahead, 4-2. For the game, Contreras had 1 double and 1 home run in 5 at-bats.
"It was our day today," Contreras told the Miami Bulletin. "But we've got to keep our nose to the grindstone."
Miami has an impressive 95-49 record.
