Yankee Stadium hosted a real pitchers' duel.

The Fresno Falcons got a magnificent performance from pitcher Norman Ewing, who muffled the New York offense en route to a tight, 2-0 Falcons win at Yankee Stadium. Woody Jones recorded the save, his 33rd.

The Falcons got a big at-bat from first baseman Riley Rhyne. For the game, Rhyne went 1-3 with a home run, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. In the top of the first, with a runner on 2nd, he stroked a 2-run home run. His 16th home run of the season gave Fresno a 2-0 lead.

"Norman is good at sticking to his strengths," said Fresno manager Pedro Alvarado.

The Falcons improved their record to 91-53 by beating New York.
