Derek Gwinnup, who finished 2nd in the NL in strikeouts with 192 in 2059, was locked in. The right-hander led the Indianapolis Ignition to a 7-3 win against the Cleveland Indians at PepsiCo Park. The winning pitcher was Gwinnup, now 5-1. He tossed 5 innings of 4-hit ball, while walking 3 and fanning 5. Ryan Bielvenstram collected his 6th save.
In the bottom of the fifth, with the game tied, Cleveland allowed the Ignition to go up, 4-3, on a Cleveland error.
"I thought we played some darn good baseball," said Ignition manager Jay Duren.
The third-place Ignition have a record of 23-18.
