Reds Best Athletics in Pitching Duel
|
The Cincinnati Reds used a great performance from Ethan Martin, who is a two-time All-Star, to beat the Oakland Athletics, 2-1, at O.co Coliseum. Martin got the win, improving to 8-8. He gave up 3 hits and walked 3 over 6.2 innings. He allowed 1 run. Picking up his 4th save was 22-year old right-handed pitcher Ethan Fowler.
Emanuel Nava, who finished 5th in the AL in triples with 8 in 2058, had a direct impact on the outcome. Nava contributed a 2-run single in the top of the fourth inning to put Cincinnati up, 2-0.
"We leaned on our pitching tonight," Nava said.
The setback makes Oakland 52-89.
