Scouts Earn Win with Late Rally
|
In a high-scoring game between Chattanooga and Arkansas, catcher Mateo Barrera was a difference-maker. The 24-year-old helped Chattanooga grab the 9-8 win. He was 2-3 with 2 singles and 2 walks, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. Chattanooga reliever Bennett Waltermeyer picked up the win, upping his record to 3-1. Jay Horton absorbed the loss. Ingemar Mattox locked down his 15th save.
Chattanooga relied on the bat of Jordyn Fichtner to get the win. The shortstop ripped a run-scoring triple in the top of the ninth inning to put the Scouts ahead, 9-8. For the game, Fichtner had 1 double and 1 triple in 6 at-bats.
"If you want to be considered a good team, these are the kind of games you have to win," said Chattanooga manager Fletcher Goolsby.
Chattanooga now sports a record of 58-38.
