The Scranton Dundies beat the Pawtucket Red Sox, 8-5, at McCoy Stadium. The win was due in part to designated hitter Ben Waters, who was 1 for 3 with a home run and 2 walks, while scoring 2 and driving in 2. Dennis Amalla, the winner, improved to 4-3. He held the Red Sox to 4 runs on 6 hits over 5 innings, while striking out 4 and walking 2. Scranton occupies 4th place in the International League Northeast Division at 51-52.

Scranton used the clutch hitting of Johnny Bender to snag the win. The right fielder drilled a 3-run home run in the top of the seventh inning to put the Dundies ahead, 8-4. It was his lone hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a crucial one.

"You know, at the end of the day, it's about who scores the most runs," said Scranton manager Johnny Hales.
