On Road, Birmingham Drops Norfolk, 6-2
|
The Birmingham Barons withstood an impressive performance by Norfolk shortstop Lee Hilton to defeat the Tides, 6-2, at Harbor Park. Hilton went 3 for 4 with a home run and 2 singles, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. Birmingham has run its win streak to 5 in a row.
Birmingham used a clutch at-bat from Ray Morton to capture the win. The third baseman hammered a 3-run home run in the top of the first inning to put the Barons ahead, 4-0. It was his lone hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a humdinger.
"What we get, we earn," Morton told the Birmingham Daily News.
