Esparza Leads Wilkes-Barre to 1-0 Win
|
The Wilkes-Barre Barons eked out a 1-0 win versus the Newark Bears at Valiants Ballpark. Nobody did more than pitcher Salvador Esparza. He was terrific. Wilkes-Barre is now 50-54.
Esparza kept the Bears under his thumb. He scattered 5 hits over 7.1 innings, while striking out 8. The right-hander upped his season record to 7-6.
Esparza attributed the win to "making big pitches in big moments."
