A 3-RBI performance from Mark Ihrig helped the Syracuse Chiefs beat the Newark Bears, 5-3. Miller Baskins earned the save for Syracuse, his 4th of the year. After today's action, Syracuse sits at 53-48, while Newark falls to 49-52.

Syracuse took a 5-1 lead on Ihrig's 14th home run of the season. The 3-run home run, which he hit off Frank McCoy in the top of the sixth, propelled Syracuse to the win.

"I've been criticized for being a slacker, but the one thing I do care about is winning," Ihrig told the Syracuse Daily News.
