The Syracuse Chiefs beat the Toledo Mud Hens, 8-7, at Victory Field. The win was due in part to third baseman Michael Taylor, who went 3-5 with a home run and 2 singles. He scored 2 times. The winner was Rick Fyock in relief. His record improves to 3-2. Maxwell Schwab took the loss. Today's win puts Syracuse at 52-48, while Toledo falls to 34-66.

In the bottom of the third inning, first baseman Max Smallwood had a 2-run double for Syracuse. It was his 19th double of the season and put the Chiefs on top, 3-1.

"It was a nice win for our side today," said Chiefs manager Abe Blowers. "Not perfect, but we'll take it."
