Chiefs Skid Hits 6 Games
|
The Gwinnett Stripers picked up a win at Victory Field, taking down the Syracuse Chiefs, 3-2. Starting pitcher Ashante Kearney was a big reason why. Picking up the save was Travis Bonilla, his 2nd. The last-place Stripers lifted their record to 36-62.
Gwinnett needed the clutch hitting of Sawyer McLain to notch the win. The center fielder hammered a 2-run home run in the top of the seventh inning to put the Stripers on top, 3-0. For the game, McLain had 1 home run and 1 single in 4 at-bats.
"The want-to is there for our guys," said Syracuse manager Aaron Calderon. "We'll get this thing turned around."
