Pawtucket Dispatched, 9-1, by Louisville
|
The skies opened up and the rain fell at McCoy Stadium.
The Louisville Bats knocked off the Pawtucket Red Sox, 9-1, in International League action at McCoy Stadium. Louisville pitcher and Palm Bay, Florida, native Kevin Kuntz had an outstanding performance. The winner was Kuntz. He threw 6.0 innings of shutout ball. The loser was Vitorio Taveras.
Louisville used the timely hitting of Adrian Breitzman to seize the win. The designated hitter stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the seventh inning to put the Bats on top, 2-0. It was his only hit in 5 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"We took a roundhouse punch to the chin," said losing manager Daniel Holcombe.
Louisville bumps their record to 37-63 with the win.
