The Newark Bears and Pawtucket Red Sox were greeted by an enthusiastic crowd.

Pawtucket starter Richard Badger had a strong outing against the Newark Bears at Valiants Ballpark. The right-hander was a big part of his team's 7-1 win. The Red Sox sit in 4th place in the International League Northeast Division with a record of 52-47.

Pawtucket relied on the bat of Gabe Hardy to get the win. The second baseman ripped a solo home run in the top of the first inning to put the Red Sox ahead, 1-0. For the game, Hardy had 1 double and 1 home run in 3 at-bats.

"We were able to get some things going offensively," said Badger.
