Charlotte wasted an exceptional performance by pitcher Viviano Lucero, falling to the Orlando Wizards, 3-2. Lucero threw 8.0 innings of shutout ball for the losing team. Roldan Donzelli, who is tied for 8th in the IL with a 2.84 ERA, was the winning pitcher. Over 8 innings, he allowed 2 runs on 4 hits, with 3 walks and 4 strikeouts. Ben Vough earned the save, his 9th, for the Wizards.

Pedro Casillas came through with a big-time hit for Orlando. The third baseman smacked a 3-run home run in the top of the ninth inning to give his team the lead, 3-2. It was his only hit, but it was clutch.

"We had the game right there for the taking," said Charlotte manager Zhu Yu. "But we decided not to take it."

The defeat makes Charlotte 40-59.
