Russ Dean put on a hitting clinic in helping Ottawa beat Newark, 8-7. Dean had 1 single and 2 doubles for the Oddballs. He also scored 2 runs and knocked in 4. Ottawa pitcher Lee Villegas earned the win, hiking his record to 3-2. Ben McPherson suffered the loss. The Oddballs improved their record to 36-57 by beating Newark.

The game was decided with one out in the bottom of the ninth. With Ottawa trailing 7-6, Ken Foster hit a fastball from Ben McPherson to right for a 2-run single. Just like that, the Oddballs had a walk-off win.
