Bandoh Jacks Two Home Runs in 11-3 Portland Win
|
The first-place Portland Hops took on the Virginia Black Bears in front of a spirited crowd.
The Portland Hops knocked off the Virginia Black Bears by the score of 11-3. Gerard Bandoh provided some pop, going 2-for-4 with 2 home runs. Tilson Vargas was the winner. He's now 1-0. The loser was 26-year old right-handed pitcher Chase Yamada. Tristram Thiele closed the door for Portland, picking up his 1st save of the year.
With one out in the bottom of the first, Ford Hampton put Portland in front, 2-0, with a 2-run single. The Hops went on to win the ballgame.
"Glad to see the fans get into it," said Hampton.
With this game in the books, Portland is 26-14, Virginia 14-26.
