Tides Get Gritty, 3-2 Win
The Norfolk Tides had to overcome a good performance from Toledo pitcher Xavier Hazel to claim a 3-2 win at Fifth Third Field. Hazel went 6.1 innings and allowed 2 runs. Norfolk reliever Peter McKinney picked up the win, upping his record to 3-1. Kenny Griner was saddled with the loss. The victory puts Norfolk at 32-57.

Norfolk took advantage of an error in the top of the eighth inning. The game was tied, 2-2, when Dillon Coffey hit a run-scoring single that was misplayed. It put the Tides in front, 3-2.

"Our offense was purring," said Norfolk manager Justin Higginbotham. "Like a well-oiled machine."
