Chiefs Get Close Win Over Bears, 3-2
The bats were silent much of the day at Valiants Ballpark. But 23-year old third baseman Sergio Diaz produced just enough offense to carry the Chiefs past the Newark Bears, 3-2. Diaz went 3-4 with a home run and a triple, while scoring 3 times. With the win, the Chiefs improved to 48-37.

Diaz had a game-changing home run in the top of the eighth. On a 1-1 sinker from Dennis Lewis, he banged a solo home run to right-center, giving the Chiefs a 3-2 lead. It was the 2nd home run of the year for Diaz.

"Every loss hurts," said Newark manager Kyle Hughes. "But this was a tough one."
