Charlotte Beaten, 1-0, by Birmingham in 10
|
Charlotte pitcher Owen Holiday gave the Barons all they could handle, but in the end, Birmingham left Raley Field with a win, 1-0. Holiday allowed no runs on 3 hits over 6.1 innings. With the win, Birmingham has a record of 54-33. Charlotte falls to 44-43.
The decisive blow was delivered by A.J. Barnett in the bottom of the tenth when he hit a run-scoring double off 33-year old right-handed pitcher Andrés Carillo to win the game for Birmingham. The home crowd went nuts.
"This ballgame left me feeling kind of raw," said Charlotte manager Zhu Yu.
