Extra-Inning Win by Bisons Over Stripers
|
In a close game at Coolray Field, the Buffalo Bisons edged the Gwinnett Stripers, 5-4. Buffalo center fielder Matt Mosley stood apart with his performance. He went 4-5 with 4 singles and a walk, while scoring 2. The winner in relief was Bill Fahey. He is now 2-1. The right-hander allowed no runs on no hits in 2 innings. Roland Sigmond recorded the save, his 4th.
Buffalo used the timely hitting of A'darrion Whitlow to seize the win. The designated hitter stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the 11th inning to put the Bisons on top, 5-4. It was his only hit in 3 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"It takes a lot of things to win a ballgame," said Buffalo manager Adam Luthe. "It's usually not just one thing."
The International League Northeast Division-leading Bisons have a record of 57-26.
