Red Sox Drop Contest, 7-2, to Gwinnett
|
Gwinnett Stripers starter Samuel Allen turned in an exceptional performance against the Pawtucket Red Sox at McCoy Stadium, resulting in a Gwinnett win, 7-2. Allen yielded 2 runs over 6 innings to notch the win. He scattered 3 hits, walked 3, and struck out 8. His record improves to 3-2. Damian Nix recorded the save, his 1st.
It could have been a different outcome for Gwinnett, had it not been for Kolten MacLean, the 29-year old center fielder . MacLean contributed a run-scoring walk in the top of the third inning to put Gwinnett up, 4-1.
"I felt great. Had good rhythm with my mechanics," said Allen.
Gwinnett, at 36-47, holds down 8th place in the International League Southwest Division.
