Bears Claim Late Win
|
The Newark Bears beat the Wilkes-Barre Barons, 3-1. Newark pitcher and Toms River, New Jersey, native Nate Dunn led the way. Newark reliever Kirk Long snagged the win, upping his record to 2-4. Kayden Kosek shouldered the loss. Picking up the save was Kevin Laraway, his 10th.
Newark took a 3-1 lead on Noah Summerville's 5th double of the season. The 2-run double, which Summerville hit in the bottom of the eighth, left Wilkes-Barre pitcher Kayden Kosek visibly frustrated.
"Nate made some big pitches when he needed to," said Bears manager Kyle Hughes.
The 5th-place Barons dropped to 41-39.
