The inspired effort of Scranton shortstop Andrew Nava was not enough to prevent a loss, 4-3, to the Rochester Norsemen. Nava was 2 for 3 with a home run and a walk. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. Santino Veira notched the win in relief. The left-hander allowed no runs on 1 hit in 1.1 innings. His record now sits at 5-0. With the win, Rochester has a record of 37-39. Scranton falls to 43-33.
Had Janard Mahoney not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and runners on 1st and 3rd, Mahoney hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 4-3, in favor of the Norsemen.
"We'll kick back tonight, then get set for the next one," Mahoney said.
