Red Sox Earn Clutch Win, 5-4
|
The Pawtucket Red Sox outlasted the Rochester Norsemen in an extra-inning thriller.
Rochester left fielder Chace Nickey had a good game in a losing cause. His team fell, 5-4, to Pawtucket in 10 innings. Nickey was 3 for 4 with a home run, 2 singles, and a walk. He scored 2 times and drove in 2. Getting the save was Dawlyn Bermudez, his 1st.
Pawtucket needed the clutch hitting of Nick DeVries to seal the deal. The designated hitter swatted a solo home run in the top of the tenth inning to put the Red Sox on top, 5-4. For the game, DeVries had 1 home run and 1 single in 5 at-bats.
"Sometimes winning takes more than 27 outs," said Red Sox manager Daniel Holcombe.
The win makes Pawtucket 24-52, nothing to write home about.
