Good production from third baseman Derek Clegg helped the Norfolk Tides topple the Birmingham Barons, 8-1. Clegg went 3 for 4 with a home run and 2 singles, while scoring 3 runs for the Tides. Logan Corbett, the winning pitcher, is now 5-9. He went 8.1 innings, allowing 1 run on 5 hits, while fanning 1 and walking 4. The defeat makes Birmingham 43-32.
Who knows how it might've ended, had it not been for Demon Long? The Norfolk left fielder had a run-scoring ground out in the top of the fifth inning to put the Tides on top, 3-1. For the game, Long had 1 double and 1 single in 5 at-bats.
