Louisville Upended by Gwinnett, 2-1
|
Behind a solid performance from shortstop Sloan Westmoreland, the Gwinnett Stripers defeated the Louisville Bats, 2-1. Westmoreland went 3 for 3 with a home run and a double. He drove in 2 runs and scored once for the Stripers. Ross Allen earned the win for Gwinnett. He lasted 5 innings, allowing 1 run on 7 hits, while striking out 3. With the win, he raised his record to 1-2. Picking up the save was John Phillips, his 4th.
With Gwinnett trailing 1-0 in the bottom of the fifth, Westmoreland hit a fastball from Noel McNeil for a 2-run home run. It was his 1st home run of the season and put the Stripers ahead, 2-1.
"It's nice to come out on top today," said Westmoreland.
The 5th-place Stripers now have a win-loss record of 34-39.
