Win Lifts Barons to 39-34
|
Birmingham starter Alfonso Barbosa kept the Columbus offense from doing much damage. The right-hander leaned on his fastball in leading the Barons to a 4-1 win. Roger Dawes claimed the win after being brought in from the bullpen. The right-hander allowed no runs on 2 hits in 2.1 innings. His record stands at 1-0. The victory gives the Barons a record of 39-34.
The Barons got a big at-bat from right fielder Malcolm Ketchum Jr.. For the game, Ketchum Jr. was 1-4 with a home run. He drove in 3 runs and scored once. In the bottom of the sixth, with runners on 1st and 2nd, he stroked a 3-run home run. His 3rd home run of the season gave Birmingham a 4-1 lead.
"We did the things it takes to win a ballgame," said Birmingham manager Steve Anderson.
