Portland starter V.J. Amador pitched well against the Virginia Black Bears at The BeerGarden. The right-hander led his team to a win, 5-3. Amador picked up the win for Portland, going 6.1 innings. He gave up no runs on 3 hits. He now sports a record of 4-2. Roger Lin closed the door for Portland, picking up his 8th save of the year.

The Hops got a big at-bat from shortstop Rudy Cassarino. For the game, Cassarino went 1-2 with a double, while adding 2 RBI. In the bottom of the fourth, with runners on 1st and 2nd, he stroked a 2-run double. His 5th double of the season gave Portland a 2-0 lead.

"We'll just keep our nose to the grindstone," Cassarino told the Portland Daily.
