Grizzlies Use Late-Game Magic to Beat Chiefs, 8-5
Though he had a terrific game, Benigno Capote could not prevent his team, the Syracuse Chiefs, from absorbing a loss. Maine won the game, 8-5. Capote went 3-5 with a home run and 2 doubles, while scoring 2 times and driving in 2. The 8th-place Grizzlies now have a win-loss record of 30-36.

The Grizzlies beat the Chiefs in part due to timely hitting. Case in point: the two-out single Eric Gehman produced in the top of the ninth. Batting against Konstantin Yeomans, Gehman gave his team the lead, 6-4, when he hit a 2-run single.

"Not the sexiest win," said Grizzlies manager Kyle Ramsay, "but I'll take it."
