Bears Lose Again, 3-0, to Wizards
|
The losses keep piling up for the Newark Bears.
The Orlando Wizards faced a tough opponent in Newark pitcher Joshua Wathen, but did just enough to pull out the victory at Valiants Ballpark by a final score of 3-0. Wathen went 8 innings and allowed 2 runs. Eric Woods snagged the win in relief. In 4 innings, the right-hander allowed no runs on 1 hit. He's now 2-3 on the season. Earning his 14th save of the year was T.J. Picchione.
Orlando relied on the hitting of Torquato Fajardo to pick up the win. The third baseman clubbed a solo home run in the top of the first inning to put the Wizards on top, 1-0. For the game, Fajardo had 1 home run and 1 single in 5 at-bats.
"Come up with some new questions," snapped losing manager Jessie Moe to reporters, "and I'll come up with some new answers."
With this game in the books, Orlando is 37-26, Newark 16-47.
