Athletics Prevail, 6-4, Over Cincinnati
|
Baseball fans saw a good contest between the Oakland Athletics and Cincinnati Reds.
The Oakland Athletics defeated the Cincinnati Reds, 6-4, at O.co Coliseum. Joel Urfer, who is on pace for 89 RBI this season, was a standout performer for Oakland. His 3 hits included 1 single and 2 doubles -- this in addition to the 2 runs he scored and 1 he knocked in. The Athletics saw their win-loss record go to 51-88. At the same time, the Reds fell to 71-68.
Damien Chase had a big bases-clearing triple for the Athletics in the bottom of the sixth inning. With Oakland leading 3-2 and the bases loaded, he got a fastball from 24-year old right-handed pitcher Guy Solana and swatted a triple to left-center. It was his 1st triple of the season, and more importantly, it put the Athletics ahead, 6-2.
"Solid performance from our side," said Athletics manager Jose Maldonado.
