The Fresno Falcons got a sterling performance from center fielder Benjamin Berret, but the Toronto Blue Jays still prevailed, 8-7. Berret was 2 for 3 with a home run. He scored 2 times and drove in 3. The winner in relief was Eugene Washington. He is now 5-4. The right-hander allowed no runs on 3 hits in 3.1 innings. Jack Tritt locked down his 23rd save.

New York-born Ethan Dillon came through in the clutch. In the bottom of the seventh, with the bases loaded and the Blue Jays trailing 7-6, he hit a 2-run single to left to put Toronto on top.

"We had the game right there for the taking," said Fresno manager Pedro Alvarado. "But we decided not to take it."

The win gives Toronto a season record of 79-59.
