Dundies Turn Back Knights, 4-3

Shaun Lai was superb against Charlotte. The right-hander, who is tied for 4th in the IL with a 8.1 K/9 rate, had a sinker that was virtually unhittable at times. The result was a Dundies victory. The score was 4-3. In 6.1 innings, Lai surrendered 3 hits, while striking out 9 and walking 3. He allowed 2 runs. The Dundies saw their win-loss record go to 33-24. At the same time, the Knights fell to 27-30.
Scranton center fielder Townsend McCardell contributed a timely at-bat in the bottom of the seventh. With two down, he hit a slider to right-center field for a run-scoring single. It was his 40th hit of the season and put the Dundies ahead, 4-2.
"Shaun was exceptional and he pitched with a purpose," said Scranton manager Jameson Senchak.
