The Gwinnett Stripers weathered a fine game by Wilkes-Barre center fielder Derek Meyer to upend the Barons, 9-7, at Coolray Field. Meyer went 2-4 with a home run, while scoring 2 and driving in 5. The winning pitcher was 24-year old right-handed pitcher Tom Cubitt. He tossed 89 pitches over 5.2 innings, allowing 4 runs on 7 hits. Zachary Murch closed it out for his 7th save.

Jerry Gibson, who is tied for 4th in the IL in runs scored with 39, came through for Gwinnett with a 2-run double in the bottom of the first. The right fielder went 2 for 4 for the game, including 1 home run and 1 double. He scored 1 run and collected 5 RBI.

"We need to string a few more wins like this one together," said Gibson.

The Stripers win now puts them at 26-32.
